Cleanup experts at the Piketon uranium enrichment plant have turned to Mother Nature for help removing groundwater contamination. They’ve planted 4,000 hybrid poplar trees in areas over plumes of the industrial solvent trichloroethene (TCE). But it was difficult to figure out how well it was working, so they had to come up with a way to find out.
